MVA crisis: Uddhav Thackeray ready to resign from CM post if any rebel MLAs demand

  • "I will give my resignation letter if they come before me and ask for it," Thackeray said

  • On Wednesday, CM Uddhav Thackeray tested positive for Covid-19

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday said that he is ready to step down from the Chief Minister post and leave the official residence allotted to him if any disgruntled MLAs demanded.

Thackeray, in an address to the state, said, “I will give my resignation letter if they come before me and ask for it. If any MLA wants me to not continue as the CM, I am ready to take all my belongings from Varsha Bungalow (official residence of the CM) to Matoshri.”

“I had no administrative experience. I did what I did with my will and to fulfil the promise given to my father. We had to join hands with Congress, NCP with whom we had fought for 25 years,” Uddhav Thackeray said.

“NCP, Congress saying they don’t want me is acceptable and expected. But, if my own people don’t want me, what can be done?” Thackeray said.

“When all 3 parties came together in 2019, Sharad Pawar told me that I had to take the responsibility of CM post. I didn’t even have prior experience. But I took the responsibility. Sharad Pawar and Sonia Gandhi helped me a lot, they kept their faith in me,” Thackeray further added.

On Wednesday, the Maharashtra CM tested positive for Covid-19. This comes amid the ongoing crisis in Maha Vikas Aghadi due to the rebellion by senior party leader and minister Eknath Shinde.
