Over 10K O2 concentrators to be airlifted from several countries in next 7 days: Centre

Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday said that national carrier Air India will airlift 10,636 oxygen concentrators from several countries in the next seven days amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis in the country, reports PTI.
“Air India is airlifting 10,636 oxygen concentrators manufactured by Philips. 636 (concentrators) already flown in from US. Consignments flying in every day. Will be completed within this week,” Puri wrote on Twitter.

India is grappling with a second wave of the coronavirus infection and healthcare facilities in several states are shattered under a shortage of medical oxygen and beds.

Over 20 people died in Delhi last week due to the shortage of medical oxygen.
India is reporting over 3 lakh new infections everyday since last week and and the total tally of COVID-19 cases has climbed to 1,76,36,307. According to the date, the national recovery rate has further dropped to 82.54%.
The death toll increased to 1,97,894 with 2,771 daily new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.
