Parliament session should be judged on work done, not on days wasted: PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that Parliament should hold discussions on issues of national importance. The PM said the criteria to judge the winter session should be how much work is done, and not how many days are wasted.
PM Modi was addressing reporters ahead of the winter session.

Stating that the government is ready to discuss all issues openly, PM Modi said voices can be raised, but the dignity of Parliament, Speaker and the Chair should be maintained.
“This is an important session of Parliament. The citizens of the country want a productive session. They are fulfilling their responsibilities for a brighter future,” PM Modi said.
He further said that Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana has been extended till March 2022.

The PM also urged everyone to remain careful as a new variant of coronavirus has emerged.
The Lok Sabha is expected to take up the bill to repeal the three central farm laws which triggered nationwide protests. The Farm Law Repeal Bill was cleared by the Union Cabinet last week.
The Bill is likely to be tabled in the Rajya Sabha on the same day after its passage in the lower house of Parliament.

According to the news agency, the farmers too will be watching the proceedings closely. After Prime Minister Narnedra Modi made the announcement that the three laws will be repealed, the cultivators said they do not believe in his words and would like to see the bills actually repealed.
They have also raised fresh demands on Minimum Support Price (MSP) in a bid to end their protest, which has been going on since November last year.
