Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said he had “no information” when asked about Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignation as Punjab Congress chief during his media address at the Punjab Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh.
“I have full confidence & faith in (Navjot Singh) Sidhu Sahab,” said the Punjab chief minister on the latest developments in Punjab politics.
Earlier on Tuesday, Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned as the Congress party chief in a letter to party president Sonia Gandhi, saying he “can never compromise on Punjab’s future and agenda for the welfare of Punjab.”
Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh reacted to Sidhu’s resignation by Tweeting “I told you so…he is not a stable man and not fit for the border state of punjab.”

According to ANI, Amarinder Singh will be leaving for Delhi from Chandigarh in the afternoon.
Various media reports suggest that Singh is expected to meet BJP’s Amit Shah in Delhi, however, Singh media advisor has denied any such reports.
Union Minister Ramdas Athawale had extended an invitation to Captain Singh to join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and said he should quit Congress which humiliated him. Speaking to ANI, Athawale had said that Singh can be of good use to bring the NDA to power in Punjab after the Assembly polls next year.
Later, Punjab’s first Dalit chief minister, Charanjit Singh Channi, took charge, promising free water supply to smaller homes, a reduction in power tariff and a transparent government for the “common man” in the poll-bound state.
Two deputy chief ministers, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and OP Soni, were also sworn in by Governor Banwarilal Purohit at a Raj Bhavan ceremony, also attended by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
