Following the takeover of Air India by the Tata Group, industrialist and chairman emeritus of Tata Sons Ratan Tata welcomed passengers with a special message.

“The Tata group welcomes Air India’s new customers and is excited to work together to make Air India the airline of choice in terms of passenger comfort and service,” the 84-year-old said in his message.

The message was also shared by the airline on social media. “A warm welcome extended by Mr Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus, Tata Sons, Chairman Tata Trusts, to our passengers onboard Air India flights,” Air India said in a tweet.

Air India’s return to the Tata Group has created quite the buzz on social media, with a number of users excited to travel with the airline again. Many users also appreciated the airline for their improved service since the takeover.

“Breakfast was so fresh,tasty and delicious that I ate before clicking a pic…after eating I felt I should really appreciate it..Thank you for the wonderful service…Keep going on,” Indian martial artist Amritpal Kaur said in a tweet that was retweeted by Air India.

Air India was acquired by the Tata Group on January 27, nearly 69 years after the government had taken control of the airline. The Tata Group placed the highest bid of Rs 18,000 crore on the loss-making carrier.

JRD Tata launched Air India as Tata Airlines as India’s first carrier in 1932. It was renamed to Air India in 1946 and the government took control of the airline in 1953 although JRD Tata continued to remain its chairman till 1977.
