Ravichandran Ashwin will be in action on Friday when the Rajasthan Royals take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2022 Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Ahead of the key fixture, one that decides the second finalist of the season, the 35-year-old revealed his mantra.

In a video shared by the Rajasthan Royals, the off-spinner said that he believes there is a method to his madeness.

“Method, madness and courage. Those are three words that I will put myself under. What I have done in my life is also based on all these three lines and whatever I end up doing from now on will also be on those three lines,” Ashwin said in the video.

The former Kings XI Punjab captain was picked by the Rajasthan Royals for Rs 5 crore in the IPL 2022 mega-auction. He has picked 11 wickets in 15 matches so far at an average of 40.00 and economy rate of 7.33 rpo. Ashwin has been successful in creating pressure in the middle overs with tight overs, which has helped the team’s other bowlers.

With the bat, he has already scored a half-century after being promoted in the last few matches.

“I have always believed there has been a method to my madness. That madness is more of a perception for people that are looking at me and watching me. ‘What is he doing? Why is he doing all this? Why is he trying so many things? It is a matter of perception,” he added.

The off-spinner further said that he is not bothered about what others say.

“For me I have never bothered about what someone else has to think about me because I have believed firmly that I should succeed or fail on my own terms,” the 35-year-old said.

He had recently revealed that he is relishing the current IPL season and would like to continue experimenting.
