Records that can be broken in the England vs New Zealand Test series
- Trent Boult is chasing 500 international wickets

- The Test series between England and New Zealand starts at June 2
England and New Zealand will lock horns in a two-match Test series starting on June 2. The first match will be played at the Lord’s stadium.
Here are the three records that could be broken in the Test series:
1) James Anderson can surpass Anil Kumble on the wickets tally
English swing bowler James Anderson will start the series with 614 Test match wickets against his name. With six wickets in the four innings of the match, the 38-year-old will surpass Anil Kumble’s 619 to become the second-highest on the all-time charts. Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan is the highest wicket-taker in Tests with 800 scalps.

Anderson is also chasing 1000 wickets in first-class cricket. He has so far picked up 992 first-class wickets.
2) Trent Boult is likely to reach 300 Test, 500 international wickets
Kiwi pacer Trent Boult has dismissed 281 batsmen in 71 Tests at an average of 28.02. He has taken eight 5-wicket hauls. The left-arm bowler’s best bowling figure is10/80. With 19 more wickets in two matches, which is very unlikely, Boult will become New Zealand’s fourth-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket.

Trent Boult has taken 496 international wickets from 198 matches at an average of 26.63. With four more, the Kiwi will become the fourth New Zealand bowler to breach the 500-mark after Vettori (705), Southee (591), and Hadlee (589).
3) Joe Root eyes multiple records
England skipper Joe Root needs 383 runs to complete 9000 runs in Test cricket. With this, he will surpass G Gooch’s record and become the second-highest run-getter for England in the longest format.
Root,30, needs only one half-century to complete 50 fifties in Test cricket. He can also equal Mahela Jayawardena, Virat Kohli and W Hammond’s record of 7 double tons.
