Republic Day: Tableaux, themes in this year’s parade
- All tableaux this year had themes for this years parade
- Non-state tableaux were also present
- Ministry of Civil Aviation participated in the parade for the first time
Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi saw dozens of tableaux rolling down the Rajpath on Wednesday, some from states while others were related to various initiatives and departments of the Indian government. All of the tableaux that marched on the streets of the national capital carried a dedicated theme.

-Punjab
Punjab’s Republic Day tableaux’s theme told the state’s story and contribution towards India’s struggle for freedom. Freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev were featured.
-Uttar Pradesh
The poll-bound state was one of the few that carried a dual theme in the Republic Day parade this year. “One district, one product’ initiative and the Kashi Vishwanath Dham were a part of the tableaux on Wednesday.

-Haryana
Haryana’s tableaux took pride in their sporting culture and kept the theme ‘number one in sports’ for this year’s Republic Day. More than half of all medals won by India at the Tokyo Olympics were secured by Haryana.
-Goa
Being one of the biggest tableaux at this year’s parade, the theme of the western state was ‘symbols of Goan Heritage’. The tableaux featured Fort Aguada, Martyrs’ Memorial at Azad Maidan in Panaji and Dona Paula.
-Ministry of Civil Aviation
The Ministry of Civil Aviation participated in the Republic Day Parade for the first time this year and themed their appearance around the Regional Connectivity Scheme UDAN. Today, 403 UDAN routes connect 65 underserved/unserved airports, incl helicopters & water aerodromes & over 80 lakh people have benefitted, ANI reported.

Other than the tableaux, India also showcased its might in the air. 74 aircraft from the Indian Air Force blazed through Delhi skies on Wednesday noon. These included the Rafale and C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft, MiG-29 UPG, and Su-30 MI among many others.
