Let’s talk about the times when singer grabbed headlines for his comments.
His take on ‘Indian Idol’ row
Sonu, who has been on the judges’ panel of shows like ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’ and ‘Indian Idol’, talked about the controversy surrounding Indian reality shows. In an interview with ETimes, he said, “As a judge, we are here to teach something to the contestants. We should give honest feedback to the participants. Always praising them won’t do any good.”
Legend Kishore Kumar’s son Amit Kumar had claimed that he was asked to praise the participants on Indian Idol and that led to a huge row.
Comment on his son Naveen
In an interaction with Times Now, Sonu has shared that he doesn’t want his son Naveen to work as a singer in India. “Frankly, I don’t want him to be a singer, at least not in this country. Anyway, he does not live in India anymore, he lives in Dubai. I have already got him out of India. He is a born singer but he has another interest in life,” he said.
‘Music mafia’ controversy
In a vlog, Sonu talked about alleged music mafias in the industry. “You might soon hear about Suicides in the Music Industry.” He shared, “I was lucky that I joined (the industry) at a young age, I escaped the clutches. I got out of it. I don’t have any wish to sing for the last 15 years. It’s ok. I am happy in my own world. But I have seen the frustration in the eyes, in the voice, in the words of new singers, new composers, new lyrics writers… tears of blood, sometimes,” reads his blog caption.
