Indian cricket fans rejoiced as Indian all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja managed to send two crucial wickets, Liam Livingstone and Jos Buttler, back to the pavilion in the third ODI on Sunday.

Pandya approached both England batters with short pitches, who tried to hit big in a response. However, Jadeja’s agility came into the play as the 33-year-old made no mistake to catch both out in the same over.

This was the third time in the ongoing series when Pandya dismissed Livingstone, who has fallen victim to hitting big against the Indian all-rounder. Sunday was no different for either, as Pandya approached him with a short delivery, whose shot was caught by Jadeja at the deep square leg. Jos Buttler followed suit soon, who fell victim to another short delivery by Pandya in the mid-wicket and Jadeja’s sliding catch sent him packing.

Hardik Pandya’s four wicket hall against England on Sunday helped him register his best-ever ODI figures (4/24). This means that all of his best figures acros the three formats have now come in England (5/28 in Tests, 4/24 in ODI, 4/33 in T20I).

“I had to bend my back a bit, change my plans and realise you need to use the short ball as a wicket-taking ball,” Hardik said during the innings break.

“I always fancy my bouncer. Livingstone likes to take the short ball on and that gives me goosebumps. He hit me for two sixes, but one wicket made a big difference,” he added.

The all-rounder also went on to praise India captain Rohit Sharma as he remarked the latter has used him efficiently.

“The body’s fine, the captain is fantastic at managing my workload. The chase is about intent, the wicket is pretty good to bat on. We’ll fancy our chances to chase it down,” he remarked.
