Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday
stood firmly in support of the protesting farmers in a Kisan Mahapanchayat held
in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, saying she would continue to fight alongside the farmers
as long as the government takes back its contentious farm laws, enacted in
September, 2020.

Sunday’s Mahapanchayat was the fifth to be addressed by her in
the region so far.

“Do not lose hope, it has been 100 days. Even if it takes
100 weeks or 100 months, we will continue this fight with you till this
government takes back its black laws”, the Congress leader was quoted by ANI as
saying.

Uttar Pradesh Congress had earlier launched the ‘Jai Jawan
Jai Kisan’ programme from February 10 in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur, kicking
off with a Kisan Panchayat addressed by Vadra.

The farm laws, since their introduction last year, have been
highly contested.

Farmers from the states of Punjab and Haryana, after
protesting the laws in their respective states, pushed towards the national capital
on November 26, settling their camps in the border points of Singhu and Tikri.

Completion of 100 days for the same came up on Saturday,
with farmers’ union leaders noting that the demonstrations were far from over.
