Alluri Sitaram Raju was a legendary freedom fighter. Born in the year 1897 in Andhra Pradesh he was the one who rallied the tribes of the Eastern Ghats to rise in revolt against British rule. He was also one of the prime persons involved in opposing the British in response to the 1882 Madras Forest Act. This legendary figure is just not admired and respected in Andhra Pradesh but also states of Telangana, Odisha, and Karnataka. He is one of the prominent figures of the Indian Freedom Movement. He has won many battles with his traditional weapons. He is remembered for his daring raids to seize arms and ammunition from police stations in the Rampachodavaram, Addateegala, Devipatnam, and Rajavommangi areas of the tribal backwoods. The raids had been carried out in broad daylight and a detailed note was left by him on what things had been taken from the police station. He had greatly worked for the rights of the Adivasis and carried out an armed rebellion to free the country from British Rule.
