Chahal vs Yadav: It’s time to spin as Rajasthan take on Delhi

The leaders of the IPL 2022 purple cap charts, reminding selectors of their skill with every ball – the might of Yuvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav will be on display when the Rajasthan Royals take on the Delhi Capitals at the Wankhde Stadium, Mumbai on Friday. 

Chahal is the current purple cap holder with 17 wickets in six games at an economy of 7.33 rpo and an average of 10.35. He is followed by Yadav, who has dismissed 13 batters at an average of 14.30. The two, after being sidelined by Indian selectors for quite some time, have put their best foot forward for a spot in the T20 World Cup squad.

However, on Friday, they will host a battle within a battle. 

The Rajasthan Royals have the purple cap and orange cap holder in their squad. Jos Buttler leads the batting charts with 375 runs. The Englishman has already hit two centuries in this season. 

RR come off a seven-wicket win against the Kolkata Knight Riders. The match saw Chahal pick a hattrick and finish with his first IPL fifer. Buttler scored 103 runs and skipper Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer played quick cameos.

The pink army is currently placed on the third rung of the points table with four wins and two losses in six games. 

Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, overcame the hurdle of a mini COVID-19 outbreak in their camp to beat the Punjab Kings by nine wickets. Kuldeep Yadav registered figures of 2/24 and was named the player of the match. The chinaman bowler however decided to share the honour with fellow spinner Axar Patel, who came back with two wickets for 10 runs in four overs. 

Chasing 116 runs, David Warner and Prithvi Shaw put up their fourth consecutive half-century stand at the top. The Aussie was unbeaten at 60.
