As veganism became a fad, many people switched to the diet and a long range of vegan products appeared in stores. It’s safe to say that with more and more people abstaining from using animal products, the vegan diet is more popular than ever.

Recently, Indian cricketer Virat Kohli in an Instagram ‘Ask Me Anything’ session gave answers to vivid questions from life philosophy to his diet.  A fan asked the fitness icon about his diet as well.

He wrote, “Lots of vegetables, some eggs, 2 cups of Coffee, quinoa, lots of spinach, love dosas too. But all in controlled quantities.” This left several fans bemused since Kohli is a vegan.

What is a Vegan diet?

Veganism is defined as a way of living that attempts to
eliminate the use of animal products, chiefly in food, as well as clothing.

They choose not to consume dairy, eggs, or any other products of animal origin, in addition to refraining from meat, as do vegetarians.

What do Vegans eat?

Increasingly more people have decided to go vegan for ethical, environmental,
or health reasons.

Foods from plants are fine, but foods from animals are off limits, including common ingredients like eggs, cheese, milk, and honey.

On a vegan
diet, you can eat plant-based foods, such as fruits
and vegetables, legumes such as peas, beans, and lentils, nuts
and seeds, bread, rice, and pasta, dairy alternatives such as soymilk, coconut
milk, and almond milk, vegetable oils.

When done right, such a diet may result in various health
benefits, including an improved blood sugar control. Also,
vegans generally eat a greater quantity of food to meet their calorie needs.

Do vegans eat Egg?

However, there’s a trend among some vegans to incorporate
certain types of eggs into their diet. There’s a growing band of
ethical “veggans”: people who define themselves as vegans but eat
“cruelty-free” eggs.

Technically, a vegan diet that includes eggs isn’t truly vegan. Instead, it’s called ovo-vegetarian. Still, some vegans are open to including eggs in their diet.
