John Bozinov, a polar guide,
witnessed an amazing and a rare sight while leading a tour through Antarctica’s
Ross Sea. During the tour, a lone baby chinstrap penguin hopped onto the
inflatable vessel. Bozinov immediately turned off the ignition of the boat to
let the penguin come on board.

“I was completely shocked, to be honest. I’ve spent hundreds of
hours in Zodiac boats around penguin colonies and it’s the first time this has
ever happened,” John Bozinov, the polar guide, told the Daily Mail.

According
to Bozinov the penguin stayed on board for 10 minutes and shook off water from
its plumage. According to a video description, which was shared by ViralHog,
the penguin might have been trying to get away from predators like Orca or
leopard seals.

John Bozinov is a 30 year old
travel guide from Wellington, New Zealand and has been working as a guide in
the polar regions of Antarctica and Arctic for 6 years. He believes that the
penguin was so friendly due to being ‘lonely’ as no other birds could be seen
in the area.
