After taking over as the new owner of the social media site, Elon Musk changed his Twitter bio to “Chief Twit” on October 27. According to media reports, the Tesla CEO successfully completed his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter on October 28. However, the change in the world’s richest person’s Twitter bio indicates that Musk may intend to name himself CEO of Twitter. It is also possible that he will invent a title, as he did with Tesla, where his name appears as “Technoking” on financial documents.

Musk fired Twitter CEO & CFO

According to unnamed sources cited by US media, as Musk took control of Twitter, he fired the company’s CEO, Parag Agrawal, as well as its CFO, Ned Segal and head of legal policy, trust, and safety, Vijaya Gadde. The reports came just hours before Musk’s court-ordered deadline to finalise his on-again, off-again deal to buy the social media network. The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, visited the San Francisco headquarters of Twitter on October 27 and had a meeting with a number of staff members. He arrived in style with a sink. “Entering Twitter HQ – let that sink in,” he wrote in the caption of a video he posted on Twitter.

The billionaire announced in April that he would be purchasing the microblogging platform, and the deal’s closing marked the culmination of a number of dramatic events. However, the Tesla CEO called off the agreement in July, claiming Twitter’s top executives had broken it by exaggerating the number of spam and fake bot accounts. Twitter retaliated by suing Musk, claiming that he had used the bots as an excuse to back out of the agreement.

Musk announced last week that he will proceed with the transaction at the initially agreed-upon price. The court case concerning the deal was then postponed until October 28 by the judge presiding over it. Elon Musk is currently the third most followed person on Twitter, after singer Justin Bieber and former US President Barack Obama, according to SocialTracker, a platform that monitors influencers’ social media activity.
