Put into bat by Kieron Pollard-led West Indies, India lost Ruturaj Gaikwad, who opened the innings along with Ishan Kishan, early for 10.

Though Kishan (34 off 31) and Shreyas Iyer (25 off 16) steadied the innings, both were sent packing by Roston Chase and Hayden Walsh in the ninth and 10th over, respectively. Captain Rohit Sharma, who decided to bat deep in the order, too departed soon.

It was then Suryakumar Yadav who changed the colour of Indian innings with a blitzkrieg knock to help India post a massive 184 for 5 in 20 overs.

The right-handed batter smashed seven sixes and a boundary during his knock. He maintained a strike rate of 209 before being dismissed by Romario Shepherd.

Venkatesh Iyer, once again, played a crucial 35 runs knock down the Indian batting order to add some important runs late in the innings. He also picked up the wickets of Pollard and Jason Holder tweaking the ball.

Nicholas Pooran scores 61

West Indies, in reply, lost wickets in regular intervals.

Apart from Nicholas Pooran, who scored 61 off 47 balls, nobody could really give India a fight. Rovman Powell (25) and Shepherd (29) tried to salvage their chase but that was not enough for the visitors to win a match during West Indies’s tour of India.

Harshal Patel picked up three wickets giving away 22 runs in four overs while Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur took two wickets each.
