3rd T20I: Shreyas Iyer dismisses Quinton De Kock with a run out to remember

Shreyas Iyer dismissed South Africa’s opening batsman Quinton de Kock in the 3rd T20I of the ongoing Mastercard series with a brilliant throw that wicketkeeper Rishab Pant helped on to the stumps. 

Quinton De Kock had settled in at the crease with South Africa 191 for 1 at the end of the 11th over. He scored an excusite 68 from 48 balls when R. Ashwin came in to bowl the 12th over.

In the very first ball of the 12th over, Sreyas Iyer produced a throw to remember that reached wicketkeeper Rishab Panth like a bullet, and the latter then gently put it onto the stupms. de Kock was way out of his crease and was soon walking back to the stands.

India men’s cricket team is facing South Africa at the Holkar Stadium in Madhya Pradesh for the third and final T20I in the ongoing MasterCard series.

Team India has already won the series by winning the first two matches. This match is being touted as the comeback match for the Proteas, and with the 2022 World Cup approaching, a whitewash in India would be a big blow for them.

South Africa has posted a mammoth total of 227 in 20 overs for India to chase. Rishabh Panth and Rohit Sharma opened the innings for the Men in Blue, but Sharma was bowled out by Kagiso Rabada in the opening over. Iyer also went back in the next over after scoring just one run.

Pant has now been joined by Dinesh Karthik, but with the skipper and Iyer already out, Men in Blue face a huge task ahead as they look to chase down South Africa’s massive total. 

India and South Africa will meet next for the first ODI at the Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday, October 6.
