6,6,6,6,6,6: Kieron Pollard does a Yuvraj Singh, hits six sixes in an over against Sri Lanka

West Indies captain Kieron Pollard hit six sixes in an over on Wednesday to etch his name in the record books. Pollard achieved the feat during the first T20 international between Sri Lanka and West Indies at the Coolie Cricket Ground in Antigua. Pollard is the third man to score six sixes in an international over.

Pollard followed in the footsteps of South Africa’s Herschelle Gibbs (2007 World Cup against Netherlands) and India’s Yuvraj Singh (2007 T20 World Cup against England) by achieving the rare feat.

The bowler at the receiving end was off-spinner Akila Dananjaya, who in his previous over had claimed a hat-trick of wickets.

Sri Lanka batted first and set West Indies a target of 132. The Carribbean side chased down the total in just 13.1 overs. Kieron Pollard was the top-scorer, scoring 38 runs off 11 balls. He was also awarded the man of the match award.

The second T20 of the series would be held at the same ground on March 6.
