Delhi Capitals put on a clinical performance at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium as Chennai Super Kings lost an Indian Premier League match by a big 44-run margin. Prithvi Shaw was the star of the match with his belligerent and clean hitting. Shaw, who notched up his fifth IPL half-century, during his 43-ball say in the middle, scored 64 with the help of nine boundaries and a single maximum, with a strike rate of 148.84. He was also adjudged man of the match.

Electing the bowl first, Chennai looked out of sorts as they started leaking runs early in the match, allowing the opposition to set in and put up a big total. Shaw and Dhawan stitched together a massive 94-run partnership as Chennai bowlers produced a poor bowling performance.

Despite pulling back the momentum in their side, Chennai failed to curb the flow of runs as the Shreyas Iyer-led side scored freely, with plenty of opportunities to score boundaries.

Cameo’s in the death by Marcus Stoinis and Rishabh Pant helped them get over the 170-run mark.

In the 176-run chase, Chennai never looked comfortable and failed to build momentum. The Delhi bowlers cashed in on the opportunity and tightened the grip, not allowing the opposition to free their arms.

Faf du Plessis, like the last match, was the lone warrior, scoring 43 off 35 balls. Dhoni, who came in at no.5, failed to produce any magic as DC ran away with the match.

For Delhi Capitals, Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with figures of 3/26. The next in the list was Anrich Nortje, who returned with figures of 2/21 in his stipulated four overs.
