Commonwealth Games 22, Day 8: Indians in the fray

Day 7 of the Commonwealth Games ended on a high for India with Sudhir securing a gold in the men’s heavyweight final of para powerlifting. Murali Sreeshankar clinched a silver medal in the men’s long jump final while the men’s hockey team defeated Wales to progress to the last four stage. Boxer Rohit Tokas entered the semi-finals of men’s welterweight category, assuring the country a medal. Shuttlers PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth progressed to pre-quarterfinals while Aakarshi Kashyap entered the women’s singles round of 16.

Several star athletes will be in action on Day 8. The focus will be on Indian wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia. Indian women’s hockey team will look to defeat Australia in the semi-final round.
