Registration for vaccination of those above 18 will be beginning at 4 pm on Wednesday, April 28, reported news agency ANI, noting that the registration process can be availed on the Aarogya Setu App, the CoWin official website, and the UMANG app.

“Registration for 18 plus to begin on http://cowin.gov.in, Aarogya Setu App & UMANG App at 4 PM on 28th April. Appointments at State Govt centers & pvt centers depending on how many vaccination centers ready on 1st May”, ANI quoted Aarogya Setu officials as saying.

Reportedly, the central government, on Sunday, had made it compulsory for those in the 18-45 age group to register themselves in the CoWin application, saying that walk-in vaccinations would not be allowed, in order to avoid a ‘chaos’ in immunisation centres.

“An increased demand is expected once the vaccination is opened for all. For the purpose of crowd control, registering on CoWIN portal and making an appointment to get a vaccine will be mandatory for those aged between 18 and 45 years. Walks-in will not be allowed in the beginning so that there is no chaos,” news agency PTI quoted a concerned official as saying.

From May 1, the currently existing procedure of private vaccination centres receiving doses from the government and charging anything up to Rs 250 will cease to exist.

The centres, instead, will start to procure vaccines directly from manufacturers.
