Dalton Risner to join Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings sign offensive lineman in $4 million deal

Dalton Risner, the former Denver Broncos offensive lineman, is set to join the Minnesota Vikings on a one-year contract worth up to $4 million.

The Minnesota Vikings have granted the wishes of their fans, signing Dalton Risner to bolster their offensive line. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported the one-year deal on Monday, marking a significant move for the Vikings.

This signing comes after the Vikings hosted Risner for a visit earlier this year, generating excitement among the team’s fan base. While no deal was reached at the time, it appears the Vikings have now secured the versatile lineman.

Risner, known for his consistent performance, started 62 games for the Denver Broncos over the past four seasons, primarily as a left guard. However, his college career at Kansas State showcased his versatility as he played at center and offensive tackle.

Last season as the Broncos’ starting left guard, Risner allowed three sacks and 29 pressures. This performance compares favorably to Minnesota’s current starting left guard, Ezra Cleveland, who allowed 53 pressures in 2022.

While Risner may not immediately step into a starting role, his arrival provides depth and competition along the offensive line. With injuries affecting key offensive linemen like Oli Udoh, Garrett Bradbury, and Christian Darrisaw, the Vikings are in need of reliable options.
