Disqualify France? Fans spot Jules Kound wearing chain during FIFA World Cup 2022 game vs Poland

Jules Koundé, centre back for France, was spotted wearing a chain in their round of 16 tie vs Poland on Sunday. Several social media users asked FIFA to suspend the team. 

International Football Association Board’s Law 4 forbids players to wear dangerous equipment.

“A player must not use equipment or wear anything that is dangerous. All items of jewellery (necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, leather bands, rubber bands, etc.) are forbidden and must be removed. Using tape to cover jewellery is not permitted,” it points out. 

The protest on Kounde’s chain will have to be submitted in writing to the referee.

“Protests regarding the state of the pitch, its surroundings, markings or accessory items (e.g. goals, flagposts or footballs) shall be made in writing to the referee before the start of the match by the head of delegation of the team lodging the protest. If the pitch’s playing surface becomes unplayable during a match, the captain of the protesting team shall immediately lodge a protest with the referee in the presence of the captain of the opposing team,” FIFA states. 

“I’m here to snitch on Jules Koundé for wearing a chain during a match. Disqualify France please?” a Twitter user said. 

“KOUNDE IS PLAYING WITH A CHAIN ON LMFAOOOOOOOO THIS DRIP IS IMMACULATEEEEE,” another one said.
