Carolina and New Orleans Saints are both out of the playoff race. With nothing much to fight for, the teams put up an ordinary performance in the first half. Andy Dalton and co went 7-0 up at halftime. However, their opponents soon equalised.
The Saints have a chance to finish the year on a four-game winning streak. With a win, they will finish 5-2 over the final 7 games of the season.

New Orleans entered Week 17 without a victory over a team that currently has a winning record. But they went on the road and beat a Philadelphia team that entered the contest with a 13-2 record. The Eagles played without starting quarterback Jalen Hurts, but the Hurts-less Eagles also scored 34 points in a 6-point loss at playoff bound Dallas on December 24.
For Carolina Panthers, quarterback Sam Darnold threw for 341 yards and three touchdowns last week against Tampa Bay, but also turned the ball over three times, including twice on fumbles which led to 10 Buccaneers points. Those ended a personal streak of four games without a turnover. Darnold is 3-2 as a starter and is playing for his job in 2023, when he becomes a free agent.
Rookie receiver Chris Olave logged the sole touchdown of the first half. He crossed the 1,000 receiving yard mark for the season.
