Mumbai Indians will meet again on September 19, 2021, in what is ensured to be a thrilling
encounter. They have won a combined 8 of the 13 editions of the tournament and
will be looking to assert their domination again this season. Since 2008, they
have faced each other 25 times in the IPL, MI winning 13 of those encounters.

Final 2019, MI won by 1 run
The match was held at Rajiv Gandhi international stadium,
Hyderabad and it was as close as a match can get. Japrit Bumrah was the star of
the match, being as amazing as he always is. He conceded a mere 14 runs and too
2 wickets in 4 fours, an unreal statistic in T20 cricket.
2018, CSK won by 1 wicket
The Super Kings came on top of the Mumbai-based franchise at their home
stadium. CSK stunned the crowd of the Wankhede by winning the match on the
second last ball. The Super Kings needed 10 runs off the last over with their
last wicket remaining. Dwayne Bravo was the hero of the match as he scored 68
runs off 30 balls.

2021, MI won by 4 wickets
Chennai had put up a mammoth total on the scorecard, railing
all of the Mumbai bowlers. Not even Jasprit Bumrah was spared. Ambati Rayudu,
Moeen Ali and Faf Du Plesis scored half centuries which contributed to the team’s
total. With the last few overs left and an impossible asking rate, Kieron
Pollard came on the pitch and smashed 87 runs off 34 balls, winning the match
in the last over.
2012, CSK won by 38 runs
Mahendra Singh Dhoni had a match to remember in the first
few encounters between the two teams. MSD ran the show at the Chinnaswamy
Stadium as he caught three catches and remained unbeaten on 51 off 20 balls.
He outperformed an in-form Sachin Tendulkar who had a day to forget as he got run
out for just 11 runs.

2009 IPL, MI won by 19 runs
The ‘God of Cricket’ put his batting ability on full display
at Newlands, Cape Town. The little maestro, Sachin Tendulkar scored 59 runs in 49 balls which
guided his team to a memorable win.
