IPL 2021: Nagaland cricketer, 16, shortlisted by Mumbai Indians for bowling trials

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians have invited a 16-year-old Nagaland cricketer Khrievitso Kense for bowling trials for the 14th edition of the IPL. The leg-spinner was spotted in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament, owing to his terrific performance.
Confirming the news, Nagaland Cricket Association’s Honorary Secretary Hyunilo Anilo Khing posted the development on Twitter.
According to media reports, if he gets selected, he will be used as a backup for spinner Rahul Chahar, who is a mainstay for the Mumbai-based team.
Khing also shared a compilation video of the 16-year-old taking wickets in the domestic tournament.
Kense, who made his debut in the recently-concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, took seven wickets at an economy rate of 5.47.
The IPL players’ auction will take place on February 18, with the trading window extended till February 11. Mumbai Indians will go into the auction with a remaining purse of Rs 15.35 crore.
Earlier, they released four of their overseas pacers in Lasith Malinga, James Pattinson, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Mitchell McClenaghan.
