IPL Auction 2021: Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell and other star players to go under the hammer

  • A total of 292 players will be up for grabs in the auction
  • All the eight franchises released as well as retained a number of players in January
  • The maximum base price of the players has been capped at Rs 2 crore

The Indian Premier League 2021 mini auction is set to undergo on Thursday in Chennai starting 3 pm. From domestic talents to international stars, a list of players will be going under the hammer ahead of the 14th season of the  cash-rich league.

A total of 292 players will be auctioned of which, 164 are Indian players and 125 are foreign. Three of the players are from the associate nations.

All the eight franchises released as well as retained a number of players with  Punjab Kings XI and Royal Challengers Bangalore releasing the most number of players.

Following this, all the teams now have a specific amount of money in their purse for the auction. While the Delhi Capitals have the lowest amount of Rs 9 crores to spend, after releasing players such as Mohit Sharma, Tushar Deshpande, Keemo Paul, Sandeep Lamichhane, Alex Carey and Jason Roy, Punjab Kings XI have the most with Rs 53.2 crore in their purse. PKXI have released players such as Glenn Maxwell, Karun Nair, Hardus Viljoen, Jagadeesha Suchith, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Sheldon Cottrell, Jimmy Neesham, Krishnappa Gowtham and Tajinder Singh.

Big names such as Harbhajan Singh, Kedar Jadhav, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali and Aaron Finch will be up for grabs. The maximum base price of the players has been capped at Rs 2 crore.
