Every loss is a big step for the Mumbai Indians towards elimination from the playoff race. Rohit Sharma and co have lost their first five games and are placed at the bottom of the points table. They will take on the Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday, hoping to score their first win this season.

MI have been in a situation like this before. In 2015, when the five-time champions lost their first five games, they went on to win the tournament. But things look different this time. Messages of ‘stick together’ have been passed in the dressing room and press conferences, the coach and captain have no answers and the team has been unable to deliver despite some brilliant individual shows.

Mumbai come to this game after facing a 12-run defeat against the Punjab Kings. Dewald Brevis, Surykumar Yadav and Tilak Varma did look positive but the Paltan desperately needs their captain to get runs.

On the other hand, Lucknow will be banking on their ex-Mumbai Indians stars Krunal Pandya and Quinton de Kock to deliver one more win. The most impressive in KL Rahul’s side is young Ayush Badoni, who has time and again stepped up to put the opposition in trouble.

Teams Lucknow Super Giants: KL Rahul (captain), Manan Vohra, Evin Lewis, Manish Pandey, Quinton De Kock, Ravi Bishnoi, Dushmantha Chameera, Shahbaz Nadeem, Mohsin Khan, Mayank Yadav, Ankit Rajpoot, Avesh Khan, Andrew Tye, Marcus Stoinis, Kyle Mayers, Karan Sharma, Krishnappa Gowtham, Ayush Badoni, Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, Jason Holder.
