Liverpool will take on Manchester City in today’s Premier League clash between the two sides. The Jurgen Klopp-managed side have not been able to find their stellar form from the past few seasons in 2022-23, and are currently struggling at the 11th spot on the league table. Manchester City, on the other hand, have had a flying start to their season. They are currently undefeated in the league, having amassed 23 points in nine matches thus far, winning seven and drawing two.

Here are some records that can be scripted when the two giants of English football step onto the field on Sunday:

Liverpool’s record against City

The Merseyside Reds have not managed to defeat the Cityzens in all of their last five encounters, drawing three and losing five. Never in their history have Liverpool gone six straight matches without defeating Man City. It will be a milestone moment for the defending league champions if they manage to go undefeated in tonight’s encounter as well.

Liverpool’s history against defending champions

Liverpool have an impressive history when it comes to matches against defending Premier League champions. In their history, the Reds have won 22 matches against a defending league winner, which is six more than any other team. In their home games against defending champions, the last defeat Liverpool suffered was against Man United in 2007.

Man City have improved their performance against Liverpool

In their last two away matches at Anfield, City have managed to take home four points. This is impressive considering they only managed to scrape three points from their previous 17 visits.

The Reds’ record against Guardiola

In their last four encounters with City, Liverpool have scored at least two goals in every match. If they manage to maintain the scoring record this time around, it will be the first time anyone has scored two past a Pep Guardiola-managed side in four consecutive matches.
