India teammates Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol’s interaction on Twitter has amused their fans. The latter on Friday, celebrating Mandhana’s century in the Day/Night Test against Australia, dedicated a Mohammad Rafi song to her. The opener, too, responded in a quirky manner.

Smriti Mandhana became the only Indian woman to score a Test century in Australia when she played a 216-ball 127 against Meg Lanning and company. She is also the first Indian woman o score a century in a pink ball Test.

Amongst the many congratulating the centurion was her colleague Harleen Kaur Deol. The attacking right-hand batter dedicated Rafi’s ‘Oh haseena zulfo vali’ to Mandhana. Along with the tweet Deol shared a picture of Mandhana showing her tousled hair when she raised her bat to celebrate the ton.

“Alexa please play: ‘Oh haseena zulfo vali!!!’,” Harleen Deol tweeted.

However, Mandhana quickly responded with a witty comment. The opener asked Amazon Alexa, also known simply as Alexa, a virtual assistant technology, to mute Deol.

“Alexa please put @imharleenDeol on mute,” she wrote.

“Serenading you with this song right away, queen!” Amazon Alexa, India too chimed in.

The banter followed several comments from their fans.

India dictated terms to mighty Australia who did everything they could to survive the difficult overs under lights and finish the third day of the rain-marred pink ball Test at 143/4 on Saturday.

At stumps, Australia trailed the visitors by 234 runs after veteran seamer Jhulan Goswami (2/27) bowled beautifully and struck twice to leave them at 63 for two at one stage.

Mithali Raj’s side was lucky as the umpire gave Australian captain Meg Lanning (38) out wrongly, raising his finger despite an inside edge and bringing to an end her ominous stay in the middle. On that occasion, the lucky bowler was Pooja Vastrakar (2/31).

India declared their first innings at 377/8.
