Trevor Lawrence, quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars, started off the playoff game against the Los Angeles Chargers by throwing two early interceptions. The two sides locked horns at the TIAA Bank Field on Saturday.

The quarterback threw two more.

Los Angeles running back Austin Ekeler scored an early touchdown to give his side a lead in the game.

Chargers’ linebacker Drue Tranquill intercepted a pass by Lawrence that running back Austin Ekeler converted into a 13-yard score two plays later. With 10 minutes left in the first quarter, the Jaguars were trying to convert on fourth-and-7 at the Bolts’ 33-yard line when Asante Samuel Jr made an aggressive start to intercept Lawrence, who had only two interceptions in the previous nine games combined. Eventually, the chargers kicked a field goal to take a 10-0 lead.

Later in the first quarter, Samuel continued to wreak havoc for Lawrence for a second time and Ekeler converted the takeaway into a 6-yard rushing touchdown two plays later to give the Bolts a strong 17-0 lead.

It’s been a bad start for Jacksonville Jaguars. Lawrence is 4 of 13 passing with three interceptions to start, with just 30 yards. Now, the goal will be to recalibrate and start over heading into the second quarter. The chargers have played very aggressively, so the burden is on the Jaguars to flip the script.

One silver lining for Jaguars is that they scored zero points in the first quarter in six games this year and yet won five of those matches. These five victories are the third most wins in the league by a team in games where they failed to put a score on the board in the first quarter.
