Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva always wanted to face his long-time idol Roy Jones Jr in the boxing ring and his wish may come true soon. In a recent interview, Jones said he is ready for another boxing match after a draw with Mike Tyson and eyeing 45-year-old UFC superstar Silva.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, 52-year-old Jones said, “I think [Mike Tyson is] gonna do a fight with Evander Holyfield… What I’m thinking is I’ll probably fight somebody else.”

“Truthfully speaking… my dream next fight will probably be Anderson Silva,” he added.

Now that Silva is no longer under contract with the UFC, both men can engage in a ‘legends fight’ for their fans.

Jones told TMZ Sports that he and Silva have been talking about a match for years. “I’m going to call him when I get home and I’ll see what’s happening. It can happen, yes,” he said.

Jones said Silva has been a pro boxer before. “He knows how to pro box.”

Silva was released from his UFC contract last month. He hasn’t fought since his knockout loss to Uriah Hall at UFC Vegas 12 in October last year.
