Indianapolis Colts‘ rookie tight end Jelani Woods scored his first NFL career touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday as he took a 3rd and goal pass from QB Matt Ryan.

Watch: 

The match is played at the Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Colts. This was just the second touchdown thrown by the QB Ryan in the 2022 NFL Season. He threw one in the team’s game against the Houston Texans in Week 1 while he was unable to score a single point for his team in the next match against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Colts’ are looking to register their first win of the season. They tied their opening week clash against the Texans 20-20 in OT. The team together performed very poorly in the next match against the Jaguars where they were held scoreless in a 24-0 demolition.

In this play, Ryan found the open Woods between the Chiefs’ defensive pair consisting of linebacker Darius Harris and defensive end George Karlaftis. The touchdown was met by huge cheers from the home team.

Jelani Woods was drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Colts and agreed to a four-year, $5,372,473 contract that included a $1,087,252 signing bonus and a $1,087,252 guarantee with the team.

Woods was rated a three-star recruit and chose Oklahoma State over offers from Michigan, Louisville, Kansas State, and South Carolina.

He split his college time between Oklahoma State University and the University of Virginia. He played for the Cowboys football team in Oklahoma from 2017-2020 while spending his last year at the Cavaliers team at Virginia in 2021.

Number-80 Woods was born on October 9, 1998 in Ellenwood city in Georgia. In his junior year of high school, he played quarterback and passed for 1,992 yards with 20 touchdowns and six interceptions.
