The Indian cricket team arrived in the West Indies earlier on Wednesday for their upcoming ODI and T20I series. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, who has been rested for the ODI series, the Men in Blue will be captained by Shikhar Dhawan in the three ODI matches. Sharma, who is slated to return to the fold for the T20I matches, will take over the captain’s role from Dhawan.
Apart from Rohit, other key players such as Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Virat Kohli have also been rested for the ODI series against West Indies. Among them, Kohli and Bumrah have also been rested for the subsequent T20I matches.

The Indian team departed for West Indies on Tuesday, who will begin their ODI campaign on Friday, July 22 at the Queen’s Park Oval. Dhawan, who will be replacing Rohit Sharma as the captain in the series, notified the Indian fans of the team’s departure on Instagram. Apart from being widely regarded as a heavy hitter, Dhawan is also known for posting funny Instagram reels and his announcement of the team’s departure was also similar.
The video was part of a viral trend and Dhawan went on to add several Indian team members, including head coach Rahul Dravid to it.

As a response to the video, wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik, who made an inspirational comeback to the T20I team recently, wrote, “Only Shikhar can pull these stunts.”
Apart from the cricket fraternity, actor Ranveer Singh also commented on the reel, saying, “Hahahahahahaha ek number !”
Several fans also appreciated the reel, as was seen in the Instagram video’s comment section.

Dhawan, 36, made a comeback to the Indian team in the ODI series against England earlier in July, however, is not a regular in the other two formats. India won the ODI series 2-1, courtesy of memorable performances of Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant in the penultimate match.
Meanwhile, the Indian faced a sudden slump of the top order against England and Dhawan was no different. He scored 31*, 9 and 1 in his innings against the Three Lions and will be hoping to return to form against the Windies.
Several youngsters such as Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson and Arshdeep Singh have been added to the team for the upcoming ODI series.
