What is the Tao Patch Novak Djokovic wears on his chest?
Novak Djokovic’s 34-match winning streak at Wimbledon was broken by Carlos Alcaraz in the 2023 final on Sunday. The 20-year-old Spaniard won 1-6, 7-6 (6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 to take his second Grand Slam title.
Several Twitter users pointed out that Djoko has been wearing a patch on his chest since the 2023 French Open in June. He had won his 23rd Grand Slam title at the Roland Garros. The Serb claimed that the device – TaoPatch – is the biggest secret of his career and improves his game.
Ther Serb added that the chest patch helped him emulate Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man.
“When I was a child I really liked Iron Man, so I try to impersonate him. You must know that my team gives me incredibly efficient microtechnology to help me perform at my best on the pitch. So this is the biggest secret of my career,” Djokovic told reporters in Paris.

What is the TaoPatch?
The patch is made by Italian company Tao Technologies. It is unclear if the device is made for other consumers.
As per the company’s website, the TaoPatch “contains layers of nanocrystals, which capture your body heat and convert it into impulses of very weak light, which is then emitted into the specific points on your body.” The device is purported to “stimulate” users’ central nervous system, “enhancing its communication with the rest of your body.”
