Amalie Vangsgaard scored the only goal to give Denmark a crucial win against China in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
This match was decided by Vangsgaard’s corner finish following a disjointed and tense battle. Denmark and England are tied for first place in the group, and the two will play each other in their next respective games.

Vangsgaard’s goal was the first headed goal in the tournament. This is also the first game in the tournament without a penalty in it.
China only had one attempt on goal in the first half, when Zhang Linyan forced a save from the edge of the box. Denmark had zero shots on goal in the first half. Lene Christensen made a save against China’s substitution Wang Shuang at the start of the second half.
The late winner was welcomed by Denmark, which may be essential to its chances of moving on to the round of 16. In a close 1-0 loss to England, Haiti showed that it may pose a difficult test for the other teams in Group D in its first World Cup.
