Who is Imad Wasim?

Syed Imad
Wasim Haider or as we know him, Imad Wasim, is a left-handed Pakistani all-rounder.
He captains Northern in the domestic circuit,
Karachi Kings in Pakistan Super League and Overseas Warriors in the Kashmir Premier
League.

The
32-year-old is a T20 specialist who his known for his distinct skipping bowling
action which especially comes in handy in the powerplay overs. He has
previously played in the Caribbean Premier League, Big Bash League (for Melbourne
Renegades), Bangladesh Premier League and Twenty20 Cup alongside the Pakistan
Super League.
Wasim was
born in Swansea, Wales where his father worked as an engineer for a brief
period of time. His parents moved back to Pakistan when he was a child where he
began his journey of becoming a cricketer.

Interestingly,
he had been pursuing medicine but he chose to quit in order to pursue a career
in cricket when he received a call up for the under-19 Pakistan team. He wished
to emulate the career of Wasim Akram, like many of his countrymen but sadly his
pace was never enough to make him fit for comparisons.
Switching
his bowling style to left-arm spin is a move that has worked like a blessing
for him, since then his batting has also improved. He succeeds in strangulating
the batters with accurate bowling which helps control the run rate during the
middle overs.
He got the
chance prove himself on the international stage in 2015 when he made his debut
for the team as a replacement for Saeed Ajmal who was facing suspension due to
a suspected bowling action.

Throwback
to 2016, Syed became the first Pakistani cricketer to record a five-wicket haul
in a T20 International. He achieved the feat in a match against the West Indies
in Dubai.
