Jonathan Taylor is planning to continue his football career elsewhere. After asking for a new contract to start training camp, Taylor has asked the Indianapolis Colts for a trade, according to reports.

The Colts are allegedly considering placing Jonathan Taylor on the non-football injury list (NFI) in the most recent Sunday development. Taylor is still recovering from an ankle surgery in January and also sustained a back injury while working out alone in Arizona. He is presently listed as a PUP.

He only managed 861 yards and four touchdowns earlier this year due to an ankle issue. He ranked first in the league in rushing yards the season before (1,811).

But Taylor is a strong prospect for the NFI list if he has another injury while not participating in Colts’ activities. His leverage to negotiate the long-term contract he wants has been reduced by a history of injuries. The truth behind Jonathan Taylor’s back condition, however, is yet unknown.

In a recent tweet, Taylor said, “1.) Never had a back pain. 2.) Never reported back pain. Not sure who “sources” are, but find new ones”

Taylor could lose his $4.3 million base salary for 2023 if the Colts put him on the NFI list but did not activate him. Irsay might have hinted at the prospect of giving Taylor the franchise tag for the 2024 season in addition to keeping their advantage.

Jonathan Taylor is under pressure to go to training camp after being added on the NFI list. He won’t have many options once he arrives. Either he shows up and competes in 2023 to receive his compensation, or he sits out the season and loses the opportunity to earn $4.3 million.

But regardless of what they say, the Colts could take into account trade proposals and accept a deal for the All-Pro running back that suits them, according to reports.
