Boxer Vijender Singh joins farmers’ protests, says ‘will return Khel Ratna Award’

Boxer Vijender Singh joined the protesting farmers at Singhu border (Delhi-Haryana) on Sunday, ANI reported. The farmers are protesting over the three recently enacted farm Acts.
In his address at the protest site, Singh said if the government wouldn’t withdraw the “black laws,” he would return his Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award — India’s highest sporting honour.
Singh was awarded the honour in 2009.
The boxer had joined the Congress last year, right before the Lok Sabha election and contested from South Delhi (Lok Sabha constituency), which he lost.

On social media, he has been vocal about his support for the agitating farmers.
Meanwhile, Protests by the farmers entered the eleventh day on Sunday. Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh had joined the farmers’ protest at the Singhu border on Saturday.
