The ongoing farmers’ protest against the Centre’s farm laws entered day 11 on Sunday as farmers continued to hold a sit-in protest at Singhu (Haryana-Delhi border). Following the fifth round of talks between farmer leaders and the central government on Saturday, it was decided that the next round of discussions will be held on December 9.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, “I want to request protesting farmers to give up their movement so that they don’t face inconvenience in this cold weather and citizens of Delhi can also live a life of convenience.”
The three farm acts, namely the Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020, were enacted in September.
