Claim: Amid the protests, a claim was also widely shared on Facebook which said that Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC was also vandalised and was covered with graffiti with ‘BLACK + BROWN LIVES MATTER’ written over it. The image was widely circulated on English and Spanish social media platforms on June 5.

Fact Check: No, the statue of Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States, was not vandalised during the recent protests, fact-checked Associated Press. However, some graffiti was seen at the steps that lead to the monument.
The chief of communications for the National Mall and Memorial Parks, said over a mail that the photo circulating online was a hoax and the vandalism that took place only at the Lincoln Memorial was the graffiti at the bottom of the steps at street level, Associated Press reported.
