Google CEO Sundar Pichai has warned that free and open internet is under attack around the world. It is happening because many countries are attempting to restrict the free flow of information and this model of free and open broadband is often taken for granted, noted Pichai. For over 25 years, Google has made tremendous contributions in shaping up the model of free and open internet the world follows today. 

Pichai also talked about data controversies and artificial intelligence as the up-and-coming revolution in the world of technology and what is else is expected in terms of digital data development.

According to Pichai, over the next quarter of a century, two other developments will further revolutionise our world: artificial intelligence and quantum computing. Sundar Pichai also said that how important AI is going to be for Google as well as for the rest of the world.

“I view it as the most profound technology that humanity will ever develop and work on,” he said. “You know, if you think about fire or electricity or the internet, it’s like that. But I think even more profound,” Pichai told BBC.

For the unversed, artificial intelligence is the technology that attempts to replicate human intelligence in machines. Various AI systems such as Alexa, Siri and other technical appliances are already in place.

Talking about Google’s tax policies that have been a contentious topic for a long time as it is said that for several years, the company has paid huge sums to accountants and lawyers in order to legally reduce their tax obligations, Pichai told BBC, “Google no longer uses this scheme, is one of the world’s biggest taxpayers, and complies with tax laws in every country in which it operates.”

Sundar Pichai, an engineer by profession, is the CEO of Google,  one of the most complex, consequential, and rich technical institutions.
