‘Made in India’ anti-drone system deployed during PM Modi’s Independence Day address

A ‘Made in India’ anti-drone system was deployed near the Red Fort on Saturday on the occasion of the 74th Independence Day, reported news agency ANI.

The system has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and can detect and jam micro drones up to 3 kilometres.

According to ANI, it uses laser to bring down a target up to 1-2.5 kilometres depending on the wattage of laser weapon.

The anti-drone system can be an effective counter to increased drone-based activity in the western and northern sectors of the country.

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of Red Fort in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed on being self-reliant and said that Indian should promote the mantra of ‘Vocal for Local’.

Before his address, the Prime Minister took to Twitter and wished everyone on the occasion of India’s Independence Day.
