Billboards Music Awards 2021: Pop Smoke wins Top New Artist award

Pop Smoke won the Top New Artist award in the Billboard Music Awards (BBMA) 2021 on Sunday, getting the better of other nominees Doja Cat, Gabby Barrett, Rod Wave and Jack Harlow.

Last year, Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, Da Baby, Roddy Rich and Lizzo were nominated for the award, in which Eilish made it to the top in the category, winning two other categories, including Top Female Artist.

Though fans play a big role in deciding their favourite artist, the award is given in accordance with the best artist as per Billboard Charts throughout the year (March 2020 to April 2021).

The award show was hosted by American singer Nick Jonas and the event took place at Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.
