Bob Lee’s father pens emotional note after Cash App founder’s death

Cash App founder Bob Lee was stabbed to death in downtown San Francisco on Tuesday morning. His father, Rick Lee, confirmed Bob’s death in an emotional note shared on Facebook.

“I just lost my best friend, my son Bob Lee when he lost his life on the street in San Francisco early Tuesday Morning,” he wrote.

Rick added that he and his son moved to Mill Valley in California in 2019 following his wife’s death. They then relocated to Miami in October 2022.

“Life has been an adventure with two bachelors living together, and I’m so happy that we were able to become so close these last years,” he wrote.

“Bob would give you the shirt off his back. He would never look down on anyone and adhered to a strict no-judgment philosophy. Bobby worked harder than anyone and was the smartest person I have ever known. He will be missed by all those that knew him. Thank you to those who have reached out in support,” Rick concluded.

San Francisco police responded to the scene around 2.35 am on Tuesday after receiving a report of a stabbing on Main Street. The responding officers found a 43-year-old man with apparent stab wounds. The victim was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to injuries. The victim was later identified as Bob Lee. Investigation into the incident was ongoing and no arrests have been made as of Wednesday afternoon.

Bob Lee’s brother Tim also penned a separate note saying he was “saddened and disheartened” over the stabbing.

“He really was the best of us. I was so fortunate to grow up with him, and I feel like I’ve lost part of myself,” Tim wrote.

Bob was also survived by his wife Krista and their two children.
