Buckingham Palace on Tuesday came out
with a statement addressing the fallout that has been noticed recently, after
estranged royals Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gave an interview to US talk
show host Oprah Winfrey, shedding light upon their experiences over the last
few years in the Royal Family, and the ways the same has led them to part ways,
reported PTI.

Seemingly trying to push the
institution’s own perspective into the event-flow, the statement from Buckingham
Palace mentions that Queen Elizabeth II was “saddened” to learn the issues Harry and Markle had to face, adding at the same time, however, that the couple’s
admissions were only a particular side to the entire incident.

“The issues raised, particularly
that of race, are concerning. Whilst some recollections may vary, they are
taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan
and Archie will always be much loved family members” PTI quoted a statement
from the palace as saying on Tuesday.

Labour Party MP Holly Lynch, who had
earlier coordinated a cross-party letter in solidarity with Markle alongside 72
other female MPs, is reported to be analysing the opportunities to conduct a
House of Commons debate on the topic of racism and mental health problems after
she noticed “colonial undertones” in the coverage of Duchess of Sussex by
British media.

“A lot of media outlets have not
heeded those calls for a change, which is why we might start needing to think
about a case to government about how we stop hounding women in public life and
put them in a position where they feel suicidal,” Lynch was quoted by PTI as
saying to ‘The Guardian’.

“We are calling out what can only be
described as outdated, colonial undertones to some of these stories”, an
excerpt from the original letter read.

Television broadcaster ITV, on the
other hand, reportedly said on Wednesday that it had accepted TV show host
Piers Morgan stepping down from its daily show ‘Good Morning Britain’ after he
got into an intense argument surrounding the interview and walked off the
studio.
