Two off-duty police officers shot and killed an armed person at the Wharf in D.C. on Saturday night. Another person sustained injuries in the shooting, NBC Washington reported.
D.C. police Chief Robert Contee said in a press conference on Saturday night that the incident took place outside a restaurant in the 800 block of Wharf Street SW around 9 pm.
The two off-duty D.C. officers were enjoying a night at the Wharf when they saw a person pointing a handgun around the waterfront area. The cops then fired at the individual, who succumbed to injuries. It was, however, unknown who fired first in the exchange.
Another person, who may have been with the individual fatally shot, suffered a graze gunshot wound.

“Clearly this is a very brazen individual to display a firearm at one of our entertainment areas,” Contee said, adding that a semi-automatic weapon was recovered from the scene.
“We’re very lucky that no innocent residents or visitors to this area were injured. We have members of our Internal Affairs Bureau that’s on the scene, and they will be leading the investigation.”
The name of the deceased has not been released by authorities. The condition of the other individual was not known.

“I’m at the wharf and idk what’s happening lots of cops, helicopters, and fireboats,” another person tweeted.
