As the US legislators vows to get into the bottom of what prompted the Capitol riots on January 6, marking the latest development in the investigation, state of Virginia and Washington has been examining police officials who were off duty on the day of violence. 

According to Reuters, several such police officials reporting in the states were placed on leave until the authorities assess if they were involved in unlawful activities while off duty.

“The Town of Rocky Mount fully supports all lawful expressions of freedom of speech and assembly by its employees but does not condone the unlawful acts that occurred that day,” the police department said in a statement.

In another shocking revelation reported by Reuters, the fire departments in Florida and New York City alleged and informed authorities that some of their members might have been present among the mob that clambered up the Congress building.

Meanwhile, the biggest investigative agency of the US, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is examining the incident that killed as many as five people.

Notably, FBI has offered a reward of up to a whopping $50,000 for information related to the location, arrest, and conviction of the persons responsible for placing two suspected pipe bombs in Washington, DC on January 6, 2021.

The FBI also said to contact their toll-free tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324), or submit tips online at fbi.gov/USCapitol in case they have any information. People could also contact their local FBI office or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate.
