Fans of the Denver Broncos are running high on optimism and feel confident that their side will go 3-0 when they face the New York Jets on Sunday.

With expectations rising in the Mile High City and the team returning home for a game in front of a full-capacity stadium for the first time in over a year, the Broncos would know better than to take the Jets for granted.

Coming off a win on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars in week 2 of the 2021 season, the Broncos defense, who had a shaky start but picked up later against the Jaguars, will be working on their strategy to get things right against the Jets from the get-go.

Broncos’ offense quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who had a good game against the Jaguars will look to keep his form and deliver big against the Jets.

Inside linebacker Josey Jewell, who suffered a shoulder injury against the Jaguars, could be replaced by Justin Strnad, who was a fifth-round pick out of Wake Forest in last year’s NFL draft.

Strnad, who is six-foot-three and weighs 238 pounds, missed last season with a wrist injury but gained some experience while filling in for an injured Jewell during training camp last summer.

Outside linebacker Bradley Chubb, who suffered an ankle injury against the Jaguars and had to undergo surgery on Wednesday to remove bone spurs from his left ankle, is expected to return in November.

Meanwhile, the Broncos might move rookie linebacker Baron Browning outside to give the team more options on the edge.

The New York Jets will be playing away from home after losing to the New England Patriots, 25-6, in Week 2.

Jets rookie quarterback Zach Wilson threw four interceptions in New York’s loss to New England.

Wilson was the first player since at least 1991 to throw INTs on each of his first two pass attempts in a game, according to NFL Research. He was also the first player since at least ’91 to throw three INTs in his first five pass attempts in a game.

Jamison Crowder, who was the team’s leading receiver the previous two seasons, missed the season opener after testing positive for COVID-19 and was held out last week against the Patriots with a groin injury.

Crowder missed practice all week and is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Broncos.

Denzel Mims, the team’s second-round pick of a year ago, is also listed as a game-time decision.
